PROPS

THE PARAPHERNALIA required to keep a modern-day show up and running is astonishing. Minimalist is out. And it’s just my life I’m talking about, not Broadway! Preparing for 10 days “up the mountain” I’m worriting about whether my suitcase is big enough, whether the camera battery charging lead is where it should be, and will there be wi-fi access? And what about all those things left undone?

Time out was never meant to be like this I’m sure. The preparations mean that we’ll arrive exhausted. All of which says something about the pace of our lives and the nervous energy that sparks through us most all of the time. Jesus wasn’t into paraphernalia. Not even a pillow. Already I’m glad that there’ll be time in the coming days to “ponder these things”.
