THE NATURE OF GOD

WRITING ABOUT FR BEDE GRIFFITHS last evening brought to mind – when I should have been sound asleep – an embroidered (I think) picture I spotted at the head of the staircase in Hyning Hall Monastery near Carnforth a couple of years ago. The words have been coming back to me on and off all day. Real food for meditation. “The centre is everywhere” … it reminds me of some words from a favourite funeral prayer -

… and an horizon is nothing save the limits of our sight. Lift us up strong Son of God that we may see Thee more clearly, and seeing Thee more clearly may know ourselves nearer our loved ones who are with Thee

One might add, “on earth, and in heaven” for the “circumference is nowhere.”
