ANOTHER GIFT OF A DAY TODAY. Seth Edward was baptised – and though he hadn’t said much at the rehearsal he’d got his act together and made his presence felt vigourously. Quite right and proper too. And Ruth Elizabeth, from my present parish, married David Edward, from the first parish I served as a priest, when he was yet a little lad and I, as our late and beloved mutual friend Edith Cox used to say, “were not much more than a little lad yerself.” Janet Ketteringham, the bride’s mum, is our fabulous parish administrator and the creator of God laughs, one of my favourite poems. That kind of love and that kind of laughter filled the house as we sang He’s got the whole world in His hands - and revelled in the cantering build-up to Zadok the priest. That kind of love and that kind of laughter inspired flower arrangers, sound system guardian, sexton, verger, clerk, server, organist, best man, bridesmaids, ushers, Wendy Rudd – the creator of “Windsails” (pictured below), priest, family, friends, and bride and groom. May the echo of the God who
… creates
Galaxies whirling and twirling
Cascading, curling and swirling
Spinning the music of the universe
forever resound in each of us. Congratulations David and Ruth and Seth.
